Are people really this afraid of death that they will delude themselves
December 5, 2011to believe utter childish nonsense so they can sleep at night? Someone I know was referring to someone who just died and said "I bet he’s up there right now playing golf with Elvis and the Presidents." Do people honestly believe this? I mean, that a deceased person is in some magical retirement land swinging putts and conversing with historical figures? This is no different to me than deluding yourself with "Santa is out there somewhere making those toys." First of all, 99% of the presidents would be in hell (although for whatever reason, everyone wants to believe all of their relatives are in "heaven") and second of all, a dead body is no different than dead roadkill on the side of the street. Is the ran over raccoon or squished bug up in heaven eating a giant T-bone? The only reason why people believe there is a "soul" in man, who is 99% similar genetically to apes, is because some ancient book describes one. Well, if you believe that, I have waterfront property to sell you in Iowa….Newt Gingrich even said it exists!! Are people just ignorant or afraid? Do their brains lack critical thinking skills? Why do people believe this garbage? Death is no different than getting knocked out or going into a deep sleep- that’s what happens when the brain shuts down!! There is no magical land with some man who rose from the dead!! And yet, why is it that people will believe some man turns water into wine and is a walking zombie, yet they are "unsure" that life on other planets could exist? Is this stupidity purely American?? Is there hope out there in educated countries?
Artemis- why would I read the words of a con-artist? He is no different than you and I and knows no more about the non-existant afterlife than anyone else. Just because he has the title "Dr" in front of his name does not validate anything other than the fact that he abuses his title to fool gullible people like yourself into thinking he somehow has an authority, as if some "priest" also has the answers. That junk book is no more real than the Bible or Sylvia Browne. You again prove my point- you simply believe something because you "read" it or because someone "said" it. That’s not legitimate evidence and you have been scammed. Congratulations.
Kawika- I actually was dead for 4 minutes after cardiac arrest and don’t remember a THING!! No recollection whatsoever of time between feeling faint and waking up in a hospital bed. So I guess I know more than you in that regard.
First read these books before you dismiss it as nonsense: Many Lives Many Masters - Dr Brian Weiss, Destiny of Souls - Michael Newton
“At the moment of death, our soul rises out of its host body. If the soul is older and has experience from many former lives, it knows immediately it has been set free and is going home. These advanced souls need no one to greet them. However, most souls I work with are met by guides just outside Earth’s astral plane.
A young soul, or a child who has died, may be a little disoriented until someone comes closer to ground level for them. There are souls who choose to remain at the scene of their death for a while. Most wish to leave at once. Time has no meaning in the spirit world. Discarnates who choose to comfort someone who is grieving, or have other reasons to stay near the place of their death for a while, experience no sense of time loss. This becomes now time for the soul as opposed to linear time.
Homecoming is a joyous interlude, especially following a physical life where there might not have been much karmic contact with our intimate soulmates. Most of my subjects tell me they are welcomed back with hugs, laughter and much humor, which I find to be a hallmark of life in the spirit world.”
Destiny of Souls - Michael Newton
“You should check your vices while on earth. If you do not, you carry them over with you to another life. Only we can rid ourselves of the bad habits that we accumulate when we are in a physical state. If you choose to fight and not to rid yourself, then you will carry them over into another life. Only when you decide that you are strong enough to master the external problems, then you will no longer have them in your next life. ”
Many Lives Many Masters - Dr Brian Weiss
Have you been there yet? How do you know? Afraid? Can you pick the day that you want to die on? What about the exact time? YOU CANNOT. MEANING?
“Religion is an illusion and it derives its strength from the fact that it falls in with our instinctual desires.” –Sigmund Freud, New Introductory Lectures on Psychoanalysis,1933.
I think that sums it up.
Do you hate Christianity so much that you have to publish an entire page-long rant on YA!? I think you have some unresolved issues that have nothing to do with religion.
Let God be God and get into the spiritual realm of things…..Have you heard of out of body experiences?……It’s real……we leave this body at death.
