Someone made you a bet they thought for sure you could never win and you can, do you take their money

A family friend of ours is obsessed with M&M’s. They have a game room in the basement full of M&M stuff. He even has an M&M tattoo! Anyways, I asked him today if there’s something he doesn’t have. There’s literally thousands of memorabilia like store candy displays, candles, golf balls, etc. He said the one thing he doesn’t have is a brown M&M plush doll. He’s e-mailed the company, looked all over the place and just can’t find one. He said, "If someone gives me a brown M&M, I’ll give them $100."

So of course I get home and look on E-Bay and there one is! A 5" brown M&M plush for $14.99. It’s literally the ONLY one I could find online anywhere. I bought it and want to give it to him but I’m not sure if I want to accept his money for it. Anyone else would snatch it in a second but that’s alot of money for something I paid $15 for.

What would you do?

BQ: Do your kids like M&Ms? Have you tried the candy corn flavored ones?

If he wants it that bad then he would be happy to get it from you for 100 dollars. So both of you will be happy

If it were me, I wouldn’t take the money just because I would feel bad. Maybe you could compromise and say $50 or something?

In a case like that, I would give it to him and would not accept the money, if he wanted to pay for the doll that would be fine, but I wouldnt accept the rest, its too much and it seems like a “I would kill for a ___” comment, like they didnt really mean it and were just expressing how much they want it.

BQ: Yes, who doesnt. No, havnt heard of them, that sounds pretty gross.

I think I would feel bad if I took the money.

I would probably give it to him and not mention the bet at all unless he brings it up. Then I would say ‘no thank you, it’s really not necessary’ to the money. However, if he offers to take you for lunch (or something similar) to say thank you, after you decline the money, I would agree to that.

I would give it to him, and accept $15. :o)

BQ: I’m sure my kids would love M&M, but they haven’t had them yet, and I’ve not heard of cotton candy ones.
